The Russian Ministry of Health has issued a statement regarding the commencement of a trial on remote sales of prescription medicines in three regions across the nation. So far, the project has not been launched on a full scale, but the department already considers it promising.
“On a weekly basis, we meet with participants in the experiment on the remote sale of prescription drugs. We plan to launch it on a full scale in three regions. We see the prospect of this project,” Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Pavel Pugachev told TASS during SPIEF-2023.
Pharmacies that have the option of selling medicines online are eligible to participate in the experiment taking place from March 1, 2023, until March 1, 2026, in the Moscow, Moscow, and Belgorod regions. The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation approves a comprehensive list of 904 international non-proprietary names of medicines that can be sold, comprising antibiotics, diabetes mellitus medication, hypertension and bronchial asthma treatment.
The roster omits medicines containing ethyl alcohol, potent, narcotic, and psychotropic substances, as well as medications that necessitate professional medical supervision.
“As part of this pilot project, interaction between all participants in the process – doctors, pharmacy organizations and patients will be worked out. At the same time, it is important to remember that prescription drugs require special attention and strict adherence to both the rules for storage and dispensing, and the regimen prescribed by the doctor, ” said earlier Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
