The Russian Ministry of Health has recently put forth a proposal to discontinue widespread coronavirus vaccination in July, making it only mandatory for the most vulnerable members of society. In order to gauge the viewpoint of the medical community regarding this issue, the distance medical education service Vrachu.ru conducted a survey, which was open for responses from August 11th to August 16th.
A total of 2352 respondents, comprising doctors and nurses, participated in the research from various regions across the country. The majority of individuals (73%) expressed their support for the Ministry of Health’s proposal to cease mass vaccination, deeming it unnecessary. Another 14.4% remain uncertain about their stance on this matter. 12.6% of healthcare professionals expressed their support for continuing mass vaccination efforts.
Respondents shared their perspective on the contrasting aspects of the present COVID-19 situation compared to that of a year ago. Accordingly, 92.8% of respondents attested to a significant reduction in the number of disease cases. Only 5.9% claimed that the reduction in the occurrence is negligible.
