In Moscow, doctors conducted 250k endoscopic examinations, leading to a near doubling of early-stage detection of gastrointestinal cancers. Deputy Mayor of the capital for social development Anastasia Rakova told reporters about this.

“Thanks to the development of a network of endoscopy centers, the number of detected oncological diseases of the gastrointestinal tract at early and zero stages has almost doubled. It is important that in 70% of cases, during examination at the endoscopic center, early and zero stages of malignant neoplasms were detected in patients for the first time, that is, without an endoscopic examination, they would not have known about the existing diagnosis. In total, almost 250 thousand studies were carried out in three endoscopy centers,” Rakova said.

She recalled that more than three years ago a new standard of oncological care began to operate in Moscow. It is based on an integrated approach to treatment combined with maximum attention to each patient, as well as modern medications and high technologies.
