Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor) has issued a registration certificate for a medical device featuring artificial intelligence, which has been developed by the Ryzhikh National Medical Research Center of Proctology, in collaboration with Alnisoft and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The new AI assistant, named ArtInCol, has been designed for detecting colon tumors during colonoscopy. This computer vision-based system assists doctors in real time by highlighting subtle polyps and adenoids, greatly enhancing diagnostic accuracy and enabling timely cancer prevention.
“Work on creating the ArtInCol medical decision support system began in 2022 on the initiative and with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The registered solution allows us to broadcast the experience of the center’s leading specialists in detecting colon tumors. This year, we conducted a prospective clinical trial on 100 patients, which demonstrated an impressive increase in the detection rate of colon tumors from 40.6 to 56.4% when using ArtInCol. In addition, under the leadership of the center, a randomized multicenter clinical trial has been initiated, designed for 1000 patients, in which Moscow City Clinical Hospital No. 31, the endoscopy center of the Botkin MMNC of the Health Department of the City of Moscow, as well as the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan are participating,” said Professor Sergei Achkasov, Director of the A. N. Ryzhikh National Medical Research Center of Proctology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
