The Russian government has authorized an extra allocation of approximately 770 million rubles to enhance the neonatal screening program for newborns. On November 6, 2024, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the corresponding order.
Funding will be allocated to the regions through the federal initiative “Ensuring Expanded Neonatal Screening,” which is a key component of the state program for “Healthcare Development.” “Expanded neonatal screening is a study for the presence of hereditary and congenital diseases in newborns. Such studies allow for the diagnosis of serious diseases at an early stage and the immediate provision of the necessary medical care,” the report says.
