Sechenov University has opened its Representative Office in Hangzhou (China)

The opening ceremony took place on January 17. The Representative Office will serve as a hub for promoting Russian medical education, expanding opportunities for academic exchange, and fostering scientific partnerships between the two countries.

“Sechenov University actively develops partnerships with other countries, strengthening its position as a global center for medical education and research. Today, we are entering a new cooperation stage with China. Opening of the University’s Representative Office in China is a strategic step aimed at reinforcing the university’s role as a leader in Sino-Russian collaboration in medicine and healthcare. The main goals of the Representative Office include increasing the number of Chinese students at Sechenov University, advancing scientific and educational partnerships, and identifying technological solutions to implement cutting-edge medical technologies,” told Petr Glybochko, Sechenov University’s Rector.

Mikhail Brovko, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Sechenov University; representatives of the UniBase company — platform for international students for applying to universities in Russia; Mao Yifei, CEO of the Chinese Corporation Xipei; and Feng Changgen, deputy of the National People’s Congress, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Vice-Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, all attended the opening ceremony. Feng Changgen noted that the project will provide Russia and China with the new opportunities for sharing ideas and setting up joint initiatives. Establishment of the University’s Representative Office became possible through joint efforts of Sechenov University, the international company UniBase, and the Chinese corporation Xipei.

Sechenov University has over 180 partnership agreements with organizations from more than 50 countries. Only in 2024, 30 new agreements were signed with foreign institutions to expand scientific and academic cooperation. Currently, there are more than 6,300 international students from 114 countries studying at Sechenov University, that composes about a quarter of its total student population.
