The first Center for Rare (Orphan) Diseases in the North Caucasus Federal District has opened in Nazran, the capital of Ingushetia. The medical institution is located on the territory of the city children’s clinic. The event coinciding with the center’s opening was attended by Alexander Tkachenko, head of the Circle of Kindness Foundation.

“Ingushetia has become one of the first republics of the North Caucasus Federal District to open such a diagnostic and treatment center. This will significantly improve the quality of life of young patients and their families. “For our part, we’ve provided approximately 1 billion rubles in medicines to patients in the republic over the past four years,” he said.

According to Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the head of Ingushetia, the new institution will collaborate closely with federal and regional medical facilities to ensure that patients receive comprehensive medical care, including advanced treatment options. The center’s infrastructure includes specialized specialist offices, a day hospital department, and a medical genetic counseling unit. The center has already begun treatment of three patients with epidermolysis bullosa.
