One-year mortality from cancer in Russia has decreased to 17.3%

In Russia, the mortality rate of patients from cancer during the first year after diagnosis decreased to 17.3% by December 2024. This was reported by Deputy Director of the Department of Organization of Medical Care and Sanatorium and Resort Affairs of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Valeria Gulshina at the forum of the International Public Movement “Movement Against Cancer”.

“One-year mortality: December 2024 – 17.3%,” follows from Gulshina’s presentation on the results of achieving the results of the federal project “Fight Against Cancer” for 2019-2024.

According to the data provided, this figure has decreased by 22.1% since 2018. In addition, the detection rate of cancer at the first and second stages has increased – 61.2% in December 2024, TASS writes.
