The volume of drug production in Russia increased by 21.5% in 2024, amounting to about 800 billion rubles, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during the Government’s report to the State Duma. He also stated that the share of domestic drugs is already more than 64%, RIA Novosti writes.
In connection with Mishustin’s speech, representatives of the United Russia party noted that sanctions had been imposed in the most sensitive areas. The availability of modern and effective medicines for Russians was also affected. When asked about the measures taken by the Government on this issue, the Prime minister replied that two thirds of the medicines sold in the country are now domestic.
«The volume of drug production in 2024 increased by 21.5%, amounting to about 800 billion rubles. This is a serious achievement. Let me remind you that in 2023, the amount was 612 billion rubles. And the share of domestic medicines has already exceeded 64%», — Mishustin said.
Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin’s press service noted that there are already more than 300 enterprises in the city that are continually increasing production volumes and expanding their product range, which facilitates the crucial task of providing the country’s residents with medicines and medical products. The turnover of the capital’s pharmaceutical sector in 2024 reached 606.3 billion rubles, reflecting a 43.8% rise compared to 2023 at comparable prices.
The mayor also announced the launch of the production of new medicines in the capital. Moscow pharmaceutical companies will soon begin producing drugs based on monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, In addition, there will also be the production of ready-made dosage forms for the treatment of orphan diseases (five INNs), as well as the production of antitumor drugs (seven INNs).
