Hungary will receive 2 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto. This is enough for 1 million citizens.

“We have already received a copy of the signed agreement by the Russian side. Under this agreement, we will have access to a batch of vaccine needed to inoculate one million citizens. We are talking about potentially two million doses, based on fact that this is a two-component vaccine”, TASS quoted the Hungarian minister.

The diplomat noted that the vaccine will be delivered to Hungary in three stages: in the first month, the Hungarian side plans to receive 300 thousand doses, in the second – 500 thousand, and in the third – 200 thousand necessary to vaccinate the same number of people.

“Unfortunately, vaccines enter Hungary very slowly. That is why agreements with the Russian side were very important for us so that we could acquire the appropriate medicines from an independent source in large volumes”, Siyyarto explained.

Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, met Siyyarto on January 22, said that the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) had signed a contract with the Hungarian side of the Russian anti-COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine production.
