Turkey approved the production of the Russian anti-COVID19 Sputnik V vaccine, TASS reports citing the newspaper Yeni Şafak.
“In Turkey, some trials were carried out at the stage of vaccine production, and the company associated with this process received approval after an appropriate request,” the publication quotes a member of the scientific council on coronavirus, Dr. Afshin Emre Kayypmaz
The expert claims that the cost of producing one dose of Sputnik V will be about $10.
“This is equivalent to the cost of the Chinese Shinovak vaccine, delivered from China for $10-11. Despite the fact that their cost is comparable, production within the country will eliminate external dependence, “the expert believes.
In January, the RDIF signed an agreement with a leading Turkish pharmaceutical company on the production in Turkey of anti-COVID19 Sputnik V vaccine coronavirus and started transferring technology.
