The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced the approval of the Russian one-component Sputnik Light vaccine by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Nicaragua. This became known on May 20 on the website of the official website dedicated to the Sputnik V vaccine.

In February of this year, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Nicaragua registered the Sputnik V vaccine.

According to the foundation, the effectiveness of the single-component Sputnik Light vaccine was 79.4% from the 28th day after receiving immunization. The performance rate is about 80% higher than that of many vaccines requiring two injections.

The calculation of effectiveness was carried out on the basis of data from Russians who received only one injection as part of the mass civilian vaccination program and did not receive a second injection for any reason from December 5, 2020 to April 15, 2021.

The incidence among vaccinated citizens, starting from day 28 from the date of immunization, was only 0.277%.

According to research by the Gamalei Research Institute, Sputnik Light is effective against all new strains of coronavirus.

In Russia, the Sputnik Light vaccine may enter civil circulation in three weeks, as Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said earlier.
