Sputnik Light, a one-component anti-COVID19 vaccine, has been registered in Russia, according to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

“The Ministry of Health of Russia, the Gamalei Research Institute and the RDIF announce the registration of the one-component anti-COVID19 vaccine Sputnik Light. The Sputnik Light drug is the first component of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, “the report said.

According to the foundation, the effectiveness of a single-component vaccine was 79.4% from the 28th day after receiving immunization. The performance rate is about 80% higher than that of many vaccines requiring two injections.

The calculation of effectiveness was carried out on the basis of data from Russians who received only one injection as part of the mass civilian vaccination program and did not receive a second injection for any reason from December 5, 2020 to April 15, 2021.

The incidence among vaccinated citizens, starting from day 28 from the date of immunization, was only 0.277%.

According to research by the Gamalei Research Institute, Sputnik Light is effective against all new strains of coronavirus.
