Dmitry Muratov, the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, will send part of the monetary component of the Nobel Prize to the Circle of Kindness Foundation, Novaya Gazeta reports on Twitter.
“Muratov will donate part of the Nobel Prize (about $ 1.14 million) to the Circle of Kindness Foundation, which helps children with severe and rare diseases,” the message says.
On Friday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to Dmitry Muratov, editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, and Maria Ressa, a Filipino journalist, for their “efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace.”
Aleksandr Tkachenko, the chairman of the Board of the Circle of Kindness Foundation, earlier said that it is very important that Russia develops its own drugs for the treatment of children with severe chronic diseases, including rare ones.
