According to the instructions for the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine published in the State Register of Medicines (GRLS), breastfeeding is no longer a contraindication for vaccination with the drug. That is, the Ministry of Health of Russia has allowed vaccination with Sputnik V for nursing mothers.

“Contraindications: hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine or another vaccine containing similar components; a history of severe allergic reactions; in cases of acute infectious and non-infectious diseases, or exacerbation of chronic diseases, vaccination is carried out two to four weeks after the recovery or the start of remission. In cases of mild acute respiratory infections, acute infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the vaccination is administered after the normalization of temperature; age under 18 years (due to lack of data on the effectiveness and safety),” reads the document.

In September,  the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation stated that Sputnik V is contraindicated to breastfeeding mothers, since no supporting studies had been conducted. In early fall, pregnant women were allowed to use the vaccine in situations where the benefit was greater than the possible risk.

The Ministry of Health has also allowed simultaneous vaccination against coronavirus and influenza.
