According to the Parlamentskaya Gazeta newspaper, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has developed a draft resolution on the introduction of mandatory labeling of biologically active supplements (dietary supplements): for domestic products, from October 1, 2022, and from November 1, 22, for imports.
In accordance with the document, manufacturers of dietary supplements will have to submit information for registration in the state information system for monitoring the turnover of goods that are subject to mandatory labeling.
In addition, the initiative establishes the requirements for participants in trade turnover, the procedure for their registration in the monitoring system, as well as the requirements for service providers. The procedure for the information exchange among participants in the trade turnover with the information system is also determined.
According to the document, from October 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023, participants in the trade turnover submit information about identification codes to the monitoring system. From March 1, 2023, they will also have to provide information about identity codes when selling goods.
In Russia, an experiment on labeling dietary supplements has been underway since May 1, 2021, with participation on voluntary basis. Participation is equated to registration in the monitoring system. If the information provided by the participants in the experiment is found to be insufficient, they need to enter the missing information into the system by September 30 this year.
