As reported on the Roszdravnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare) website, none of the foreign manufacturers announced that they were stopping the supply of pharmaceuticals to Russia.
The department held a video conference with the largest distributors of imported and domestic medicines. The participants discussed the issue of pharmaceuticals availability on the Russian market.
“During the event, the country’s largest distributors assured that as of April 27, 2022, no foreign manufacturers announced termination of pharmaceuticals supply to Russia. Moreover, negotiations are currently underway with some of them on increasing the volume of supplies,” the message reads.
According to the service, a temporary shortage of a number of drugs may occur due to the issues with the logistic routes that have to be replaced by new ones and delays at the border.
The head of Roszdravnadzor, Alla Samoilova, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said that the agency guarantees quality control of medicines that will be imported into the territory of the country.
According to Mikhail Mishustin, Russia’s strategic task is to organize local production of the drugs which are now only available as imports from other countries. At the same time, it is necessary to support bona fide suppliers.
