The Scientific Center for the Examination of Medical Products of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation will create its own bank of pharmacopoeia standard samples of medicines. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry.

“The Scientific Center for the Examination of Medical Products of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation is working on the certification of pharmacopoeia reference samples of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation. At the moment, 99 of the samples have been certified and are available. The first to be certified were 63 pharmacopoeia standard samples of biological nature, which meets the general needs of the industry. By the end of this year, it is planned to increase the number of certified pharmaceutical reference samples of chemical origin to 300 items,” the message reads.

As the press service explained, until recently, Russia did not have its own system of pharmacopoeia reference samples certification forced the industry to purchase them abroad, which was expensive and time-consuming.

The Ministry of Health noted that the creation of its own bank of pharmacopoeia reference samples would contribute to the provision of high-quality medicines for the Russian healthcare system.

As it became known earlier, Russian pharmaceutical companies will be eligible for grant support from the state for the development of standard samples of vital and essential drugs (VED). The corresponding resolution was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
