According to Sergey Glagolev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the pharmaceutical market in Russia is growing steadily, with two–thirds of medicines being domestic drugs. He stated this during the International Research to Practice Conference “Assessment of healthcare technologies: improving the strategy for the development of the drug supply system”.
“The market is growing steadily. Its capitalization is about 2 trillion rubles. In physical terms, domestic medicines account for two–thirds of this volume,” RIA Novosti quotes Glagolev as saying.
As he noted, Russia provides full production cycle for 95% of domestic drugs. In addition, the Deputy minister added that the public medicines procurement market has recently grown by about 30%.
The Ministry of Health previously announced the growth of the market of domestic medicines and medical products, as well as the possibility of producing in Russia about 80% of VED-listed medicines.
