According to the Assistant Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Alexey Kuznetsov, the country has fully met the need for vaccines against measles, rubella, mumps, and varicella. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

According to Kuznetsov, vaccination of children against measles, mumps and rubella is carried out within the framework of the national vaccination calendar. The necessary volumes of the vaccine are purchased centrally from a domestic manufacturer, and the need is fully met. Vaccination against varicella (chickenpox) is provided in accordance with the national vaccination calendar and according to epidemiological indications. There are several drugs from different manufacturers on the market, and the need for vaccines is also met.

“In accordance with the current legislation, the manufacturer shall notify Roszdravnadzor of the termination of production or supplies no later than one year before the termination of supplies or production. This will not have a negative impact on the availability of vaccination in our country,” said the Health Minister’s assistant.

The American pharmaceutical company MSD (Merck & Co. in the US and Canada) stops deliveries of vaccines against smallpox, rubella, measles and mumps to the Russian Federation, including those produced by other manufacturers. The company will continue to sell its drugs that have no analogues, as Kommersant previously reported.
