The Tomsk company has launched a new production line for the production of an antibiotic for farm livestock and pets, which was previously imported. This was reported by the press service of the Tomsk Region administration.
“The new line will enable us to achieve a three-fold production volumes increase (last year the company produced 1.1 million vials, and in the first six months of 2022), as well as to start the production of antibiotics as part of import substitution,” the message says.
The line is currently being commissioned, it is planned to start manufacturing before the end of this year.
Artem Khoroshikh, the director of Biovetservice, told TASS that the drug concerned is amoxicillin. It will be adjusted as part of the import substitution program. According to Khoroshikh, the demand for the drug among Tomsk agricultural producers has sharply increased. No livestock enterprise can function without the use of the antibiotic: it is used to protect all farm animals from a wide range of diseases. In addition, the drug is used for subcutaneous administration to domestic animals. The company plans, first of all, to meet the region’s demand for amoxicillin, and then to enter the market of the Siberian Federal District, the Russian Federation, and the CIS countries.
