On November 1, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Grozny, chaired by Aleksandr Novak, Deputy Prime Minister, with the support of Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of the Chechen Republic.

During the meeting of the commission, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran signed a memorandum on the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of research and information and methodological support in the field of regulating the circulation of medical products. The memorandum was the result of the hard work of the two countries in strengthening cooperation in the field of healthcare and long-term work to familiarize representatives of Russia and Iran with the regulatory systems of both countries.

The Russian Federation held training seminars for representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Health and the industry on regulatory requirements. At the same time, a Russian delegation of industry representatives and regulators visited Iran in June, where they got acquainted in detail with the pharmaceutical industry, the operations of medical devices manufacturers, and the activities of regulatory authorities.

“The signed memorandum creates effective tools for cooperation between regulatory authorities both at the level of their management and at the expert level, provides for information exchange on cases of supply of substandard counterfeit medical devices, advisory support by expert organizations of market participants before submitting dossiers of medical devices and drugs for registration. The memorandum will contribute to the expansion of the presence of Russian and Iranian manufacturers in the markets of both countries,” said Sergey Glagolev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
