A verdict to 13 defendants in the cancer drug theft case has been announced in St. Petersburg

The Kirovsky District Court of St. Petersburg announced the verdict to 13 defendants in the case of a theft of 11.5 million rubles worth of cancer drugs.

The 13 defendants are responsible for 20 episodes of fraud on their account, the joint press service of Saint Petersburg courts reported. The case involved employees of the City Clinical Oncological Dispensary,  the clinic of Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Research Institute for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Transplantation,  as well as N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology.

Only one person involved in the case pleaded guilty, The others did not admit their guilt at all or only admitted it partially.

As found by the court, the organizer of the crimes was one of the defendants. He had sufficient knowledge in organizing medicines sale. The thefts were committed from January to October 2020.

The organizer of the group, Sergei Voitovich, was sentenced to three years and five months in a standard regime penal colony. Three defendants were sentenced to two and a half to three and a half years in prison, while five more were given suspended sentences. Four more have to pay fines of 90,000 rubles.
