The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation described the current situation with the domestic production of substances for antibiotics as stable. The official also added that 70% of medicines from the vital and essential drugs (VED) list are produced in Russia.
“Due to the fact that during the COVID-19 epidemic the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with the Ministry of Health, supported the development of the substances production [for antibiotics], we actually have a fairly stable situation today, although we need to make another component for antibiotics of the semi-synthetic group,” he said at an expanded meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Social Politics.
“There are different degrees of localization, and seeing this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has taken large-scale and significant steps to support the production of substances and components for drugs manufacture,” the minister added.
