Some branches of the Russian Post have already been equipped with showcases with dietary supplements, vitamins, bandages, creams, thermometers and other goods as part of a pilot project for the sale of non-medicinal products. The experiment takes place in 40 post offices in St. Petersburg and Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and Vologda regions. If the project is successful, its geography is going to be expanded.

“Russian Post has launched a pilot project for the sale of non-medicinal drugs. The assortment of health showcases that will appear in post offices will feature more than 80 items,” the press service reported.

Visitors can fill their home medicine chests with the items offered in the showcases. “Almost 40 million Russians live in remote and hard-to-reach regions, without a pharmacy or a shop within walking distance, but with a post office. The assortment of the health showcase includes essential medicines that people always need to have close at hand,” said Vladimir Vinogradov, head of the Medicines Directorate of the Russian Post.
