Moscow’s the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case on illegal medicines circulation (paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 238.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) after the death of a 22-year-old girl in Moscow due to Laennec injections. Investigators managed to trace at least one of the points of unauthorized sale of the immunomodulator, Moskva City News Agency reports.
“Some unknown individuals sold Laennec online, including in VK social network, in violation of the laws,” the source said. As part of the active search measures, law enforcement officers conducted a test purchase, ordering 200 ampoules of Laennec for 136,500 rubles.
The criminal case was initiated after the media reported the death of a girl who injected Laennec to herself and another person. It is still unknown how exactly she purchased the drug and which websites she used. Nevertheless, according to preliminary data, she used diluted Laennec for several days instead of a single injection, which caused intoxication. The measures to save the girl failed, and she died, while the second patient survived and is under medical supervision.
Laennec is Japan Bio Products’ injectable immunostimulor based on human placenta hydrolysate. It has gained popularity as a drug that helps the body to rejuvenate.
Earlier, it was reported that at least three people died in the United States after the use of eye drops. At least 60 more suffered from the use of the drug, and four people had to have their eyeballs removed. The eye products, manufactured by India’s Global Pharma Healthcare and supplied by EzriCare and Delsam Pharma, were found to be contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
