The Government of the Russian Federation will allocate an additional 1.5 billion rubles for medicines, medical products and medical nutrition for citizens entitled to benefits. This order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The government has recently raised the indexed amount for beneficiaries to receive medicines, medical supplies, and nutrition, totaling over 48.2 billion rubles allocated for these essential needs in 2023. The decision did require additional funding.
Earlier, the leader of United Russia faction in the Duma, Vladimir Vasilyev, has requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase the funding for the program aimed at fighting cardiovascular diseases to 10.1 billion rubles per year, twice its current budget, in March 2023. Allocation of additional funds for the purchase of medicines can prevent up to 32,000 deaths of people of working age per year, he said.
