There are over 100 companies that manufacture APIs in Russia and in 2022, it was documented for 40 international generic names that had not been previously produced in the Russian Federation. Out of these, 17 of them are meant for vital and essential drugs. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there was a significant 24% growth in the volume of locally produced pharmaceutical substances in 2022 compared to 2021.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade reports that the importation of pharmaceutical substances displays diverse trends, which are affected by various countries and currency fluctuations. The ministry highlights that chemical industry companies are carrying out initiatives to manufacture vital reagents, agents, and intermediates, in response to the demands of the pharmaceutical industry, as part of the government’s supportive measures.
