The cancer mortality rate in Russia has reduced by 5%, compared to the rate before the outbreak of the pandemic, as stated by Mikhail Murashko, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. He made this announcement during the IX St. Petersburg International Cancer Forum “White Nights 2023”. At the same time, the detection rate of oncological diseases was 60%, he claims.
“Identification of diseases in the early stages has reached the highest rate in previous years, almost 60%,” the official said. According to Murashko, early detection is crucial for the more effective treatment of cancer.
In April 2023, Murashko announced that the country had witnessed a nearly 50% surge in the number of chemotherapy courses in the past three years, which has led to a remarkable decline of 4.5% in cancer-related deaths in just two years.
