Primorsky Krai has the potential to establish its own pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, leveraging the utilization of exceptional natural biomaterials. During a work visit to the region, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko, made the following statement.
He visited the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry. G. B. Elyakova in Vladivostok. During the inspection of the laboratories, the scientists told Chernyshenko about the development of drugs and dietary supplements based on marine organisms, the release of which, however, is currently impossible due to outdated equipment.
“The developments are all unique, because the substances for their production are made from unique Far Eastern raw materials. Nowhere else in Russia will you find such unique and exclusive animals and plants”, Deputy Director of the Institute, Mikhail Kusaikin, emphasized that these plants solely thrive in the Primorsky Territory.
The government has been called upon by scientists to offer their support for an innovative initiative that aims to establish an unparalleled “experimental facility” exclusively focused on the manufacturing of pharmaceutical substances. Afterward, these substances will be transferred to pharmaceutical companies for further development and utilization.
