Four updated vaccines produced by the Federal Government Budgetary Institution “National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Honorary Academician N.F. Gamaleya of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation are scheduled to be released by the fall of 2023. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Tatyana Semenova, specifying that, first of all, the Sputnik Light vaccine will become available for mass use.
“Preclinical studies have been conducted on a vaccine featuring an enhanced antigenic composition. We have achieved excellent results. The preparations for the commencement of clinical trials are now underway. During autumn, we will introduce new vaccines containing a fresh strain. These are Sputnik Light, the classic Sputnik V and children’s vaccines for two age categories,” she said. Semenova emphasized that the problems with funding have been effectively addressed.
