M.P. Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Drugs of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Polio Institute) developed the first Russian inactivated polio vaccine called “Poliovaksin”.
In 2017, the center commenced the development of the vaccine. The drug has passed all the necessary clinical trials and received a registration certificate from the Ministry of Health. By the end of this year, 1.9 million doses of “Poliovaxin” will be manufactured, as stated by Aidar Ishmukhametov, the center’s director general.
