The Russian Ministry of Health has prepared a new standard for the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections. The Ministry proposes to completely abandon the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics in such cases, replacing them with antiviral drugs. Moreover, their list in the new edition has been expanded.
In addition, according to the document, the average duration of treatment for ARVI should not exceed seven days (currently 15 days).
The current standard of treatment for ARVI was adopted in 2013. He prescribes antibiotics for patients. The new variation was developed by the Ministry of Health based on the clinical recommendations “Acute respiratory viral infections in adults” approved in 2021.
