As part of import substitution, Russian manufacturers registered 30 veterinary vaccines and 81 pharmaceutical products for animals in 2023, the press service of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported to Veterinary and Life Journal. In addition, in 2022, 22 Russian veterinary vaccines and 74 pharmaceuticals were registered for the purpose of import substitution.

“As for the supply of vaccines to poultry farming and other livestock sectors, the volumes of vaccine production and the dynamics of their import in 2023 indicate the creation of the necessary reserves in the short term, until the middle of next year,” the department noted.

In general, over the 11 months of 2023, 36,446.2 million doses of animal vaccines were introduced into civilian circulation in Russia, of which 18,046.7 million doses were domestically produced and 18,399.5 million doses were imported. Rosselkhoznadzor notes that there are a number of vaccines, analogues of which are not currently produced in Russia.
