The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg) has proposed to expand the list of biologically active additives and skin antiseptics subject to mandatory labeling from September 1, 2024. The document approves the timing of the phased introduction of labeling for new products, which will allow participants in the trade to more easily adapt to new requirements, according to a press release from the department.
Labeling of dietary supplements has become mandatory in the fall of 2023. Rospotrebnadzor (The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) is responsible for monitoring processes in the field of labeling of these products. His responsibilities include monitoring the pace of legalization of the dietary supplement market (reducing the share of illegal products), reducing the volume of turnover of products with expired expiration dates and revoked state registration certificates, as well as goods that contain an underestimated amount of raw materials of animal origin.
