The National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Honorary Academician N.F. Gamaleya of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has announced the recruitment of a cohort of patients for trials of the upgraded Sputnik vaccine for children aged 6 to 11. Permission to conduct the study has already been received, said the director of the center, Alexander Gintsburg.
“We received permission for this work from the Russian Academy of Sciences, from experts. Since this is budget money, all spending on budget money goes through the examination of the Russian Academy of Sciences, despite the fact that the Ministry of Health has long allocated money for this work,” he added.
Alexander Gintsburg has also stated that research into the updated Sputnik for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years is at its final stage. Documents for amending the registration certificate can be submitted to the Ministry of Health as early as “this or next week.”
