Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at the Future Technologies Forum 2024 exhibition, organized by the Roscongress Foundation. He listed the existing achievements in the healthcare sector and announced plans for future years.
First, he spoke about the results of the national program to combat cancer, launched in 2019. It has become, according to Putin, “a visible priority for interaction between the medical community, science, the state, and regions.” According to his statement, more than 500 outpatient cancer care centers have been established across the country in just five years. This remarkable achievement has led to over half of cancer cases in Russia being detected at the early stage. The volume of chemotherapy increased by 60%, and radiation therapy by more than 25%. “Proton therapy has been carried out since 2020,” the president added.
“It is equally important to improve the effectiveness of our actions in the fight against cardiac, autoimmune and viral diseases,” he continued. Including, according to him, by the end of the decade it is necessary to reduce the incidence of hepatitis C to a minimum. This goal is pursued by a special program, the implementation of which began in 2023.
