Production volume of drugs in Russia increased by 13.8% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 2023. 993 million packages were released onto the market, which is 1.4% more than in the same period in 2023. The analytical company RNC Pharma recently published a report containing this data.
Analysts have noted a relatively low level of activity among pharmaceutical companies at the end of March 2024. The first month of spring has renewed the absolute minimum of natural dynamics over the past 11 months. The growth rate of package shipments compared to March 2023 has declined by 7.3%. In a mere month, pharmaceutical companies delivered an impressive 343.9 million packages to the market.
In addition, it is noted that the total natural volume of drugs produced in the first quarter of 2024 is dominated by products from domestic manufacturers, which accounted for 91.9% of all packaged drugs supplied to the market; the rest of the volume was provided by foreign players localized in the country in various formats. Nevertheless, Russian companies increased supplies relative to January–March 2023 by only 1.2% (in units), while foreign suppliers increased by 4.2%. The total number of companies that shipped drugs also changed. Thus, the number of Russian players over the year increased by 37 (to 338 companies), while foreign players decreased by four (to 56).
