The Russian mineral and chemical company, EuroChem, is collaborating with the Chinese National Chemical Engineering Company (CNCEC) to construct a mineral fertilizer production plant in the city of Zhanatas, Kazakhstan.
“The planned plant for the production of mineral fertilizers will have a capacity of at least 1 million tons per year,” said the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Construction. The expected total investment is $1 billion. The enterprise will provide 2,400 new jobs. The investment project is planned to be implemented in three stages, with the creation of a chemical complex being the final stage.
The ministry has described the project as a landmark achievement. According to the head of the department, Kanat Sharlapaev, food security does not solely depend on the state’s access to land and water. He emphasized that fertilizers are crucial to achieving food security. “This is a prime example of successful Eurasian cooperation. It marks a significant milestone for regional food security,” he highlighted.
