Clinical trials for a drug against botulism are set to commence in Russia

Specialists at the Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology have successfully developed a drug for the urgent prevention and treatment of botulism. Preclinical trials have already been completed, and the development is now advancing to clinical trials. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko shared this information with reporters.
“Over the last year, we have been developing a new drug for the treatment of this type of infection – this is a new modern drug. He has now completed preclinical studies, and we will begin clinical studies in the coming days,” he said.
As previously stated by Dmitry Shcheblyakov, head of the Laboratory of Immunobiotechnologies at the National Medical Research Center, the clinical trial could be completed by 2025.
