A meeting of the State Commission in Moscow, chaired by Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, placed a dominant focus on the critical issue of combating illicit trafficking in industrial products. The discussion centered around the supply of low-quality and unsafe food to important institutions. Despite standard contracts to reduce counterfeit products, more action needed.
To address the issue, Manturov emphasizes the need for further measures. He believes that the implementation of a mechanism to automatically quash the flow of counterfeit goods to socially significant institutions, similar to blocking the sales of labeled goods at checkouts in stores, is the most effective method to combat this problem.
“I especially want to emphasize – without inspections by regulatory authorities. Since April, the government has already been implementing an automatic ban on the retail sale of goods at checkouts based on information from the labeling system. During this time, cash registers blocked the sale of more than a million bottles of water with signs of counterfeit or without labeling. In addition, this measure made it possible to reduce the sale of expired dairy products by almost 75%,” he noted.
Meeting participants agreed with conducting similar experiments in the country to identify low-quality and unsafe products. They also discussed blocking the supply of such products to social institutions. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is working on a draft resolution in collaboration with other relevant departments.
