RNC Pharma analysts have determined that the average bill at Russian pharmacies surged by 686.4 rubles in the first half of 2024. This represents a remarkable 12.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. While the growth rate relative to 2022 was moderate, standing at only 4%, it is worth highlighting that more than 80% of the bill’s cost during the reporting period is attributed to the assortment of drugs.
In the first and second quarters of 2024, the average medication bill surged to 554.2 rubles, marking a significant 12.7% increase. Moreover, there was an 11.5% increase in one-time purchases of parapharmaceuticals, totaling an expenditure of 132.2 rubles during the reporting period.
It is crucial to acknowledge that the average check is influenced by not only the presence and proportion of expensive products but also the total number of items in the purchase. On average, in 2023, a pharmacy establishment’s total assortment contained 2.27 items per check, of which 1.68 were medicinal items. There has been a slight decrease in the number of products per check in the first and second quarters of 2024. Currently, each check consists of 2.25 units of product, with 1.65 units being medicines.
