The State Duma sees the need to strengthen regulations governing the marketing of pharmaceutical products, particularly those from foreign sources. Notably, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) has put forth a proposal to prohibit the advertising of medications across all platforms, except specialized media outlets. This issue was a focal point during the parliamentary hearings held in the State Duma on September 23.
Earlier Inna Svyatenko, Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, emphasized during a meeting of the Regional Health Council focused on promoting healthy families, that the decision regarding medical termination of pregnancy should rest solely with medical professionals. She also strongly opposed the advertising of such medications on social networks.
“Advertising for medications for medical abortion appears on social networks. Of course, this is unacceptable, and legislators have started working on this problem. As for medical termination of pregnancy, this should only be the prerogative of the doctor,” said the vice speaker of the Federation Council.
