Russia’s new national project, “New Health Preservation Technologies,” is set to drive significant advancements in genetic engineering, a key area of biotechnology. This initiative aims to ensure that Russian citizens have access to personalized medicines tailored to their individual needs, according to Deputy Minister of Health Tatyana Semyonova.

“Personalization is a crucial aspect of this national project. Specifically, in 2027, we will begin implementing a groundbreaking concept for creating gene therapy drugs based on individual indications. This approach will address many challenges associated with rare diseases,” Semyonova stated during her speech at the “Technoprom-2024” forum.

The development of technologies for designing and rapidly producing these personalized medicines, along with advanced diagnostic tools capable of detecting over 2,000 monogenic diseases, will be instrumental in supporting this initiative.
