The National Technology Initiative Center at Samara State University has created innovative “smart clothing” designed to monitor muscle fatigue and atrophy during workouts, while also providing stimulation to help maintain muscle tone. The development was named MioBody and is currently undergoing the testing procedure (testing effectiveness and approval).
MioBody offers great potential for preparing astronauts before their orbital missions. Consequently, experts from the Cosmonaut Training Center are currently conducting tests to refine its development. The testing will take at least 12 months. Throughout the development process, scientists focused intensely on muscle myography, which involves studying bioelectric activity. They examined how muscles should function, identified the necessary characteristics for optimal performance on Earth, and explored how these requirements differ from those in a space environment.
