The Russian Ministry of Health is set to establish a federal register of citizens eligible for subsidized medications. Deputy Minister Sergei Glagolev announced that preparations for its launch are currently underway.

The Ministry of Health has expressed support for establishing a unified regulatory body to oversee both state and private pharmacies, stating: “We are grateful for the concept and are ready to work with market participants and associations to improve the efficiency of interaction between federal executive bodies and regional bodies in the field of pharmacy activities.”

“We will clearly understand the number of beneficiaries that we have on the territory of the Russian Federation, and this is, of course, a very important step, the first step towards the further transition to insurance drug provision,” said Elena Astapenko, head of the Department of Drug Provision and Regulation of Circulation of Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health.
