According to Yulia Nechaeva, Research Director at DSM Group, the Russian pharmaceutical market has experienced growth since 2014, with projections indicating it will more than double by 2024.

“We see that the market continues to grow, although the structure of this growth is changing. If during the pandemic years the growth driver was government procurement, now the main contribution is made by the commercial segment – pharmacies and the population’s own expenses,” said Yulia Nechaeva.

The distribution segment showed relative stability, despite a slight decrease in concentration. The largest players have remained unchanged for 10 years. However, the opposite situation is observed in the pharmacy segment. “In 2024, 62% of the pharmacy market is concentrated in the hands of large players, while in 2014 this figure was only 15%,” she added.

Government procurement brand ratings have seen a 100% update over 10 years, with many 2014 positions absent in 2024. Russian manufacturers’ role has also increased. Yulia Nechaeva also voiced a forecast for the further development of the market, noting that the positive dynamics will continue in the future.
