The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, representing the Russian Government, has put forth a proposal to initiate an experiment from December 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. This initiative aims to monitor Russian manufacturers of various goods that require mandatory labeling, including dietary supplements.
“Throughout the duration of the experiment, we will verify whether the companies that register their products in the marking system are genuinely engaged in production: whether they possess the necessary equipment, staff, and inventory. If it turns out that the company does not actually have any production, it will not be able to obtain marking codes. This will help combat illegal products that are smuggled in and passed off as Russian,” explained Anton Gushchansky, Director of Control and Supervision Activities at the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT, operator of the state marking system “Honest Sign”).
The labeling system operator will oversee the companies, ensuring that there is no extra administrative burden placed on businesses. Both federal and regional authorities will actively participate in this experiment.
