At the XXVI Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn – 2024,” Vadim Derunov, head of the Department of the Digital Labeling System of Goods and Legalization of Product Circulation at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, proposed an initiative to broaden the mandatory labeling of veterinary drugs across the entire Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This proposal is aimed at unifying approaches to labeling in the EAEU member states.
According to Derunov, the project is under consideration by the Eurasian Economic Commission. It is assumed that when the system is implemented in two or more member states, mutual recognition of labeling codes will be ensured, which will eliminate the need for additional coding during cross-border control.
This initiative will enable veterinary drug manufacturers to market their products under a unified code across EAEU countries that have adopted the corresponding labeling system. Furthermore, it is anticipated that Belarusian pharmaceutical companies will soon be able to apply Russian-style marking codes directly at their production sites, streamlining the import process for Russian businesses.
