In the first half of 2024, Russia’s pharmaceutical production experienced a surge of 14.6% compared to the same timeframe last year, according to Dmitry Galkin, the Director of the Department for the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
“In 2023, we had +7.2%. If we sum up the interim results, then for the first half of the year it is already +14.6%. Therefore, I am sure that when we sum up the results of the year, we will have something to be proud of both in terms of content and in terms of specific products,” he said.
Galkin said that the key attention is paid to the production of vital drugs. He noted that Russia’s technological capabilities allow producing about 80% of finished dosage forms and almost 60% of active pharmaceutical ingredients within the country. “According to them, at present, the technological possibility of production is almost 80%, if we talk about finished dosage forms, and almost 60% – in terms of the possibility of producing active pharmaceutical ingredients,” he specified.
